Calling all crocheters…aka *hookers*

Posted by Amy on Nov-15-2008

There’s a new crochet swap starting up!!!  “Formal” signups aren’t until February 1, but there is already 17 hookers signed up!  Come on over and take a look and join in!!  Chickens are not required ;-)

It’ll be a blast!  At least come on by and see what all the hoop-la is about!

Red and Blue Crochet Flannelghan Afghan

Yet another finished afghan!  The name of this pattern is called Lumberjack Flannelghan and the pattern can be found here.  I used Hobby Lobby’s store brand yarn “I Love This Yarn”. It’s super soft…almost feels like chenille.

It’s a gift for Christmas for *someone*. I hope they like it. ;-)

My first born turned 21

Posted by Amy on Nov-9-2008

She went and did it!  Katie turned 21 on October 30.  I just can’t believe it.  Here’s a photo of her a few weeks before her birthday.

Katie

Here’s the afghan I made for Katie’s birthday gift.  I also purchased a couple of things for her, but this I made myself so she’d have something special for her 21st.

She loves camoflage and her favorite color is pink.  She really loves it!

Absolutely adorable!

I just had to share this!

I will definitely keep this idea in mind for next year.  Too late for this year.

Completed Projects

Completed:

Regular Ripple Afghan for Mike. Started in January, finally finished last week.  Made from yarn from my stash, plus had to add 2 colors (woo hoo, reason to buy yarn lol).  It is kind of narrow, but has TONS of stretch!  I want to make another one, but will use a larger hook to make a bigger afghan.

Here’s my purse I have been working on.

Now, on to finish my Snowflake Afghan!

Granny Square swap

Posted by Amy on Jun-22-2008

I used to do several online quilt block swaps a year.  It all ended shortly after Felicity was born.  I so enjoyed those swaps, but the few websites I knew of that had the swaps started fading with the huge growth of the internet. People moved on and found new websites, etc.

Today I joined a new swap! Crocheting!

I’m really looking forward to this! I’ll post pictures once it’s done and I have my swapped Granny Squares.

Funky Chicken

Posted by Amy on Jun-13-2008

Funky Chicken

I have been an avid quilter for many, many years.

However, about 5 years ago when I started my first online business, quilting fell by the way side.

I’ve now made my break back into quilting and started a quilt today.

I’m calling it the Funky Chicken Quilt.

I cut and pieced the blocks today.

Funky Chicken Blocks

I had a terrible time with the photo getting the colors right, but you get the idea!

I hope to be able to get the top completely together this weekend and will post more photos when the top is done.

It felt really good to be sewing for fun instead of sewing for business for a change!

Wool Yarn and Quilt Fabric Destash

Posted by Amy on May-28-2008

Progress. I tell you, progress.

That’s what I’ve made today in my destashing event!

I’ve got my goodies for sale here:

http://hyenacart.com/Spots_corner/index.php?u=2016

I’ve sold about 1/3 to 1/2 of my wool yarn stash.  I just don’t use the wool yarn much anymore. I do ADORE wool, but it’s not practical at this point.  Felicity and I do crochet, but most of our projects use acrylic yarn…and I do have some of it on hand and it’s not going anywhere! It’s so nice to see the cash coming back in from all of my unnecessary purchases(aka “bad spending habit”), and all the “stuff” going out the door of our house ;-)

Next week, I’ll conquer the boxes and boxes of fabrics(mostly quilt fabrics). I don’t plan to totally destash my fabrics as I did with the wool yarn because I will be teaching Felicity to sew soon, so fabric is needed still.  I will just “thin out” in that department.

That’s all for tonight.

Have a great Thursday!

Mother Earth News…great deal!

Posted by Amy on May-16-2008

I was just visiting the Mother Earth News website.  I found that they currently have an unbelievable special on their magazine subscription!  $10/6 issues (1 yr).

Mother Earth News magazine is worth WAY more than $10/yr!  It is one of our favorite magazines to read cover to cover. You will find so much wonderful information in the pages! Mike even reads this one!

Mother Earth News has been in publication since the ’70’s and still growing strong!

Here’s the link to subscribe to this fantastic magazine!
